Porchester Castle dates from the medieval period but was also occupied and extended by the Romans. At the head of what is now Portsmouth Harbour it has excellent views down to the Solent and up to Portsdown hill to the North. From the SE corner, the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth itself can be seen.
