Overflow on Eagle River - Albert's Loop Trail ERNC
Alaska

This was taken Christmas day just after a new snow following an extended, cold and dry period. The Eagle River had lots of overflow where there is not enough room for water to flow under the ice and it is forced to the surface above the ice. It can remain liquid under the snow even in extreme cold. It can be a very dangerous when found unexpectedly. It can also be quite beautiful.
