This is an old weather station (towards the west) on Cape Evans. Antarctica has extreme weather: it is the driest continent in the world, has the most strongest winds and the coldest temperatures. Towards the north-west lies Scott's Terra Nova hut, Mt Erebus dominates the horizon towards the north-east, and Wind Vane Hill lies towards the south-east.
