ET171 in Altona
Hamburg

Wikipedia: "The first electric Hamburg S-Bahn trains appeared on the Hamburg-Altonaer Stadt- und Vorortbahn in 1907. In 1939, the main-line railway operator, Deutsche Reichsbahn decided to switch the power providing method from overhead lines (AC 6,3 kV/25 Hz) to third rail(DC 1,2 kV). The new trains of Class ET 171 were built to replace the old overhead line trains. The first unit appeared in Hamburg in December 1939.

The first 47 trains were built from 1939 to 1943. It usually should be 67 units, but the World War II interrupted the produtction of the trains. The production was resumed in 1953. Additional 26 units were built from 1953 to 1958 to quit the overhead line traffic. The trains were retired from regular service in 2001. The unit ET/EM 171 082 is still running, and it's used as a museum train."

More About Hamburg

Hamburg: Second largest city of Germany, situated in the north at the river Elbe, because of the seaport well known as a city of merchants. Because of the nearby sea, you will always have some fresh breeze while you are walking through the streets with nice private town-houses or while you are floating along aboard an “Alsterdampfer” on the river Alster.
