Murray River Lock 9 at Kulnine
Victoria

Panorama of the Murray River at Lock 9 on the northern boundary of the Murray Sunset National Park between Renmark and Wentworth, Australia. Rural development along the Murray River started in 1880s but it was only after a searing drought in 1902 that efforts to lock the river for navigation and irrigation were increased. A total of 10 locks were constructed between Blanchetown and Wentworth from 1922 to 1929, Lock 9 at Kulnine was completed in 1926. The last weir to be completed along the river was at Yarrawonga in 1939.
