Meinong Hakka Cultural Museum
Taiwan

Meinong, called “Minong” by the local residents in the old days, maintains a simple, original Hakka ambiance, as over 90% of its residents are Hakka people. Hakka culture, which values unsophisticated lifestyle and hard-working personal character, is kept well with the historical cultural items and wares in abundance. It was with this spirit of simplicity and minimalism that inspired the design of the Meinong Hakka Cultural Museum. A blend of a cigarette house and traditional residence, the building also embraces innovation and modernity such as the multimedia facilities.  The historical files and displays also play an important role in passing down the tradition of Hakka onto the next generations.
