Taiyang Valley, Yanchao
Taiwan

Situated at Jinshan, Yanchao, Taiyang Valley features the steepest terrain among the badlands in Yanchao. Similar to the Grand Canyon in the United States, the valley consists of huge, thick mudstones. After being scoured and eroded by rainfall, the terrain was turned into steep, serrated mountain ridges. The thin layer of white magnesium oxide and sulfate on the soil surface created a vague grayness after the sun sets. Under the moonlight, the muddy water collected in the hollows in the middle looks like tranquil lakes, projecting a feeling of serenity as if it were in the palace of the moon.
