At 3755m, Aoraki(Mt Cook) is the highest mountain in New Zealand. In fact, Aoraki and the surrounding areas boast 22 of the 27 mountains over 3000m high in the entire country.
The view here of Aoraki is from a small outcrop just above the glacial lake, Lake hooker. A lip of the associated glacier, Hooker Glacier could be seen at the foot of the mountain. Flanking on either side of the Valley are Mt. Wakefield(2058m) and Mt.Footstool(2764m) respectively.
