核一、核二共用明光重件碼頭，主要是用來運送核廢料「罐頭」，但因蘭嶼儲存場飽和，近年已不再外運，使用率非常低。

位在萬里隧道與國聖橋中間的核二廠明光碼頭，已興建許久，專責載運核廢料之用。核二廠運轉後，碼頭上的電光一號，就專門載運工作人員使用過的工作服、手套、工具等低階廢料，桶裝後運至蘭嶼存放；但至八十五年時，由於蘭嶼已放滿，所以低階廢料改至廠內的倉庫暫存，並以高磅數的混凝土做成圍牆阻擋輻射線。
