Porto, Casa de Serralves, Art Deco, Billiard room
Portugal

The house's interior architecture and decoration make it perhaps the most notable example of art deco in Portugal. Late, given the reference chronology of this style, in Europe, it is explained by the route and the contacts of the owner and also by the slow construction of the work. In fact, the 2nd Count of Vizela made contact with the canons of that style in France, where he resided, having even been at the reference exhibition of art deco, in Paris, in 1925. Subsequently, he called some of the names most notable in the international art scene of that time.

Émile-Jacques Ruhlman is due to the design of the dining room, the hall, the lounge, the lobby and the billiard room. Alfred Porteneuve, coming from the same studio, will have given Serralves his charismatic pink tone. The large skylight on the ceiling of the first floor hall is by René Lalique. Billiard room
