Nonprofit entity, the Company Artistic Culture appeared in 1956 at the initiative of the couple Fernando and Adelia Fischer. Built originally to house an orchestra of amateur musicians in the city, under the inspiration of Adelia, early on SCAR had already set their goals to give opportunities for the appreciation of art, which manifested itself in the community by isolated groups of music, theater, choral singing and ballet. With community resources and business participation through the legal incentives to culture, from the early 80s that was just a dream, building a headquarters at the height of artistic production in the city would begin to become reality. In 2003 alone, however, the Cultural Center would be opened, offering the most comprehensive of its kind space in Southern Brazil. With the inauguration of the Cultural Center on May 16, 2003, the SCAR has achieved even more projection, giving impetus to their artistic activities with the establishment of orchestras, theater groups and dance, visual arts workshops, promoting big shows and forming new values and fostering citizenship through social projects.
