Seligman Arizona
Arizona
Seligman, Arizona, originally known as Prescott Junction, was founded in 1886 after the completion of the Peavine Railroad. It is located in the beautiful Upland Mountains of Northern Arizona at a junction of the Santa Fe Railroad’s main line. Santa Fe established repair facilities in Seligman as well as one of the famous Harvey House Restaurants.

Seligman embraced Route 66 wholeheartedly upon its arrival in the late 1920’s. The railroad and tourist traffic from Route 66 became Seligman's main source of economic activity. In the late 1970's Seligman was bypassed by the Interstate and the Santa Fe Railroad ceased its operations in the town in 1985. Main Street Seligman is still filled with quirky shops preserving the fun days of Route-66. According to the U.S. Census of 2000 about 450 people live in Seligman.
