Developed from 1897 by Antonio Lussich, in a region where there were only sand dunes and rocks, starting with Eucalyptus and Acacias, then for 30 years was enriching the site with species from around the world. The park currently has 192 hectares forested. Currently held by the Municipality of Maldonado is one of the largest artificial forest reserves worldwide diversity.
