Nuremberg - On the bridge Kettensteg
Nuremberg

The 68 meter long Kettensteg bridge is a pedestrian bridge in Nuremberg and the oldest preserved chain bridge in Continental Europe. After a construction period of only four months, it was opened on 30 December 1824 as the first free-floating river bridge in Germany. The construction costs amounted to 3620 guilders. 3.65 tons of iron were installed. The narrow bridge is today regarded as a monument to the history of technology; It is part of the historical mile of Nuremberg.
