The Farm, Skomer Island, Wales
Wales

The Farm, Skomer Island. Skomer is an island nature reserve just off the west coast of Pembroke, Wales managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. The island is 2 miles x 1.5 miles ( 3.2km x 2.4km) covering 730 acres (295.4 hectares) and is home to Guillemots, Kittiwakes, Razorbills, Fulmars, Manx Shearwaters. It is also home to a colony of Shags, Owls, Perigrine Falcons, Cormorants, Choughs and of course the beautiful Puffins. The Farm provides self-catering for overnight stays for those wishing to explore the birds, sea life and be at one with nature on Skomer. The Puffins live undergound in burrows where they nest and bring up their young before flying off to sea. All over the island, one can get up close and personal with the Puffins. They fly off at regular intervals to dive for sand eels to feed their young. Puffin can dive to depths of up to  200 feet (60 metres) to feed.
