This panorama was shot in early january 2013. The Mayenne river level was very high, near flooding, due to the heavy rains.
The Abbay on the left hand side is the original place where the famous "Port-Salut" cheese was made by the local trappist monks before it went to an industrial production.
To date, the Port of the Salute Abbay is still inhabited and run by trappist monks.
At this place is also located a lock allowing the navigation of the river Mayenne. To take advantage of the potential power of the river, the water is diversed to a small plant to produce electricity.
