成山头国际灯塔

成山头国际灯塔位于成山头国家级风景名胜区内,是山东威海西霞口旅游度假区内的历史古迹之一,于1874年由英国人修建,高16.3米,灯光折射21海里,至今仍正常使用。同时,为防止海上大雾船只看不见灯光,辨不清方向,英国人又在灯塔旁建造了一只大雾笛,每遇大雾天,雾笛隔2分钟便自动鸣笛一次,笛声可以传30海里,为过往船舶提供了极大方便。 在航海图上,成山头灯塔方位65°11′93″,是中国邻海基准点之一,被标作山东高角,是山东威海海域建置最早的灯塔。这里距南北国际主航道仅5海里,与韩国隔海相望,直线距离94海里。《中国航标史》(2000年版)记载,在日照以北的我国北方海域内,1949年以前建成使用的14座灯塔中,成山头灯塔仅晚于烟台崆峒岛灯塔(1867年)。成山头海域条件复杂,海岸线上分布有柳夼红层岩石等独特的基岩海蚀地貌和众多的人文历史遗迹,是中国北方海域海洋生物物种多样性最为丰富的海域,该海域独特的地质、水文、气象等条件决定了成山头灯塔是一座中外闻名的国际灯塔。
