Main Market with Frauenkirche, Nürnberg
Nuremberg

The gothic Frauenkirche is located at the main marketplace in Nürnberg. The Männleinlauf is a mechanical clock installed in 1506, showing several moving figures. The famous Christkindlesmarkt is opened by a prologue from the balcony of the church. In the early 11th century Nürnberg was founded on both sides of the river Pegnitz. In 1219 Nürnberg received town rigths and Imperial Immediacy. There is an Imperial Castle in Nürnberg. Many Imperial Diets were held in Nürnberg. The city was a most important center of commerce and was the center of the Renaissance in Germany.
