I love roofers and roofing, so I could not pass this job on a fine old house in Sancerre without taking a picture.  The map location I have marked may not be exactly right, but it is in the neighborhood. 

The business of Sancerre is wine.  There are serious tasting/sales rooms operated by vintners or associations of vineyards, and lots of small shops like this one that sell a variety of local wines and wine paraphernalia.

The hilltop town of Sancerre looks over several square miles of vineyards on the slopes of the neighboring hills, in this easternmost wine district of the Loire valley.  The crop in this one is probably cabernet franc.

Not sure just how new this central square of Sancerre may be.  The masonry in the middle certainly has a modern air; but some of the buildings facing it date to the 14th century.
