Black Chasm Cavern is a deep, vertical cavern in Amador County, California. The cave is best known for a super-abundance of helictites. Helictites are rock formations that grow laterally off the walls of caves, mostly along cracks where hydrostatic pressure gradually pushes them out over centuries of time.
