龙坑生态保护区位于鹅銮鼻东方约1.5公里，面积约61.67公顷，是东海岸最接近南边的一段，紧邻鹅銮鼻公园，全区地形皆由珊瑚礁所形成，也因位于太平洋和巴士海峡的交界处，受海浪的侵蚀作用，处处形成崩崖、裙礁、峡谷等呈现绝佳的崖崩景观及地形。龙坑生态保护区不但有着特殊的地形，更有着多达215种珊瑚礁海岸植物，也是许多的鸟类及爬虫类生态环境，不论是珊瑚礁地形或是动植物生态都深具研究的价值，所以被列为生态保护区。
