結合高鐵左營站、台鐵新左營站、捷運R16站的左營車站，位於半屏山南麓，西側以海光二村重劃道路與翠華路相接，東側緊鄰新闢的高鐵路，南側臨接大中高架道路，是北高雄最重要的大眾交通運輸樞紐。

車站之主要空間意象以大型波浪狀屋面的流動性造型，反映出半屏山及蓮池潭兩處自然景觀的特色，強化車站的親和性。讓車站室內空間引入半屏山自然景觀，候車旅客可於車站大廳內坐擁最開闊的視野。
