Ambatolampy is located a few kilometers from the capital. It is famous for the production of hand-forged cookware. From large cooking pots to sugar bowls, these aluminum products are often seen along the streets of the country. Experienced craftsmen and young apprentices use car parts, machine parts, cans and building materials are melted at high temperatures in open pits, filtered and then poured into molds to create pots and lids which are later polished and distributed for sale.
