Dąbrowa Górnicza - Palace of the Culture of Zagłębie at the Freedom Square (Plac Wolności)
Poland

The Dąbrowa Górnicza's Palace of the Culture of Zagłębie (Polish: 'Pałac Kultury Zagłębia' - Zagłębie is the name of the region where Dąbrowa Górnicza is located), which is an excellent example of the socrealist architecture, was built in 1958. It is located at Freedom Square (Plac Wolności), the main square of the city center of Dąbrowa Górnicza.

The author of the design was an architect Zbigniew Rzepecki. The building material was partly delivered from the ruined palace in Świerklaniec, nearby Tarnowskie Góry. The building both from outside and inside, is very impressive, thanks to interesting elevation made from brick and sandstone and very magnificent elements of the interior, like marble walls, maiolica tiling, mirror panels and wooden panelling.

In 2011-2014 the building was thoroughly renovated. Nowadays it's a very important cultural institution in Dąbrowa Górnicza and surroundings. Inside the Palace there is a large theather hall, a cinema, an art gallery, a banquett hall, two conference rooms, a piano room, and even a wedding hall.

The Palace of the Culture of Zagłębie is the seat of many cultural and artistic organisations like third age university, youth clubs, dance bands, music groups, art rooms, cabarets etc.
