自2007年11月16日零时起，柳州铁路局更名为南宁铁路局，简称“宁局”。南宁铁路局管辖的线路跨越广西、广东、贵州、湖南4省（自治区）17个地市（州）及37个县。有湘桂（蓝家村—隘口1021.428公里处与越南铁路交界）、黔桂（柳州—麻尾）、黎湛（黎塘—湛江）、焦柳（牙屯堡—柳州）、洛湛（零陵—玉林）5条干线和河（唇）茂（名）线。临管南昆铁路南（宁）威（舍）段。铁路局实行直接管辖和指挥基层站段体制，下设工程集团公司、物资工业处、客运公司、教育委员会、公安局、柳州机车车辆厂及72个直管基层单位。
