View from the top of Larch Mountain (elev. 4,055') east of Corbett, Oregon. From this vantage at Sherrard Point, the mountain overlooks a grand view of the Columbia River Gorge area including Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, (& Mt. St. Helens & Mt. Rainier on a clearer day). The peak is accessible via a paved road, massive parking lot, & asphalt trail w/ steps. A fire lookout formerly existed on the mountain from 1915 to 1976, having gone through several modifications. It existed on the other wooded summit closer to the current parking lot. The peak is named after early lumbermen sold noble fir wood from the mountain as larch.
