Alger Sneller Calamites

The sculpture "Alger Sneller Calamites" is located near the road (#835) leading to Steigen in Nordland - just after the first long tunnel. It's built in 1992 and is a cooperative project between the artist Gunn Harbitz and Statens Vegvesen/Nordland Fylkeskommune, Steigen Kommune og Norsk Kulturråd. The theme of the artwork is the similarities between the first sea animals million of years ago and the current vegetation in the area. This resting place is a very popular stop along the road to the breathtaking nature of Steigen.
