Lighthouse Pier, Stromness, Orkney
Scotland

The lighthouse pier and the buildings at the top of it were owned by the lighthouse board. It was used for the maintenance of buoys and serviceing the lighthouse support vessel. With the automation of lighthouses they no longer needed so many support locations and the pier was sold. The large workshop at the head of the pier is now used by Scotrenewables to develop their tidal turbine.
