During our July 2026 trip to Bonaire, I captured this 360° panorama at Boka Chikitu in Washington Slagbaai National Park. This inlet is shaped by powerful surf and steady trade winds, creating one of the most dramatic stretches of coastline in the park—sharp limestone, heavy breakers, and a wide, uninterrupted Caribbean horizon. This part of the northern shore is under strict environmental protection due to an active coral disease affecting the region. Diving is prohibited, with access limited only to authorized local divers conducting scientific monitoring or participating in controlled activities such as lionfish cleanups. Any permitted entry requires specialized post‑dive gear‑cleaning procedures to prevent spreading pathogens to other reefs around the island.
