Creag Mhor, Sutherland, Scotland
Scotland

Creag Mhor is in a very isolated part of the Scottish county of Sutherland. It is 713m (2,339ft) high. I walked a return route of over 50km in eleven hours. The overall approach is from the northeast. Parking layover for a few cars provided beside estate track entrance at NC321330 just below Badanloch Lodge. Walked the estate track to NC687310 then turned left onto the stalkers path which initially heads southeast, and continues more southerly. Took the mapped right (west) turn at NC700261 following the stalkers path until its summit at NC692260. From there is is a near beeline route but there are several peat hags which need to be negotiated, mainly by climbiing in and back out. Once out of the peat hags and onto Coire Dorcha, the rest of the route is easy, just a steep hill climb on a grassy slope. The open grassy 2,339ft summit is well worth the effort. The full 360° panoramic view from the summit includes Conival, Beinn Leoid, Ben Hee, Ben Klibreck, Ben Hope, Ben Loyal, Beinn Stumanadh, Ben Griam Beg, Scaraben, Beinn Uairie, and Col Bheinn.
