L'église St Martin de Carcans. Fondée en 1099, l'église de Carcans fut le siège d'un prieuré jusqu'au XIIIème siècle. A cette époque, elle fut érigée en paroisse. Carcans était un relais pour les pélerins de St Jacques de Compostelle venant de Saintonge. En souvenir, l'église conserve une magnifique statue de Saint Jacques en costume de pélerin datant du XVIIème siècle et classée Monument Historique. L'église actuelle a été construite en 1870 dans le style néogothique ; l'autel, de la même époque, est en marbre polychrome. L'orgue du choeur, de facture allemande, a été monté en 1971 lors de la restauration de l'église.
