Coburg's train station has been selected by German Railway as one of sixteen "Train stations of the Future".

The reception building of 1923 has been renovated in 2021. The new interior design combines historic elements with modern furniture like wooden benches and acoustic trees made of wool felt.

It has been awarded the title "Station of the Year 2022" by the German "Allianz Pro Schiene" ("Pro Rail Alliance").
