The Hermitage, a park on the eastern outskirts of Bayreuth is founded in the 18th Century and was built by the Markgrafen von Bayreuth here on the site of a former zoo. In the spacious park there are several palaces, artificial caves, ruins of a theater, fountains with water courses and also large, closed broadleaved forests with beautiful walking trails.

Views of the park meadow over to New Castle with the golden quadriga on the roof of the dome.
