Kaiserburg castle is the landmark of the city Lauf an der Pegnitz. It rises on a small river island and had to get along in skillful use of construction space to be equipped against enemies. To secure the main entrance served the gate tower, also called Wenzelsturm, with drawbridge and portcullis, flanked on both sides by walls and battlements. The panorama was created in the middle of the gatehouse.
