Lauf an der Pegnitz - Wenzelschloss (Kaiserburg castle)
Franconie

Emperor Karl IV built a stately castle in the years 1356 - 1360 on the small Pegnitz island. It served as a resting place on the way from Nuremberg to the imperial residence in Prague. From 1504 to 1806, the castle served as the seat of the Nuremberg governor, then it was the seat of the district and district court. From 1985 to 2013, the castle housed a branch office of the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg
