"Culture's coming home."

Am Vorabend der Loveparade 2007, letzte Arbeiten an der Hauptbühne. Die Bühne für die Abschlusskundgebung der Parade der 27 Floats wird am Berliner Platz (sic!), direkt an der Baustelle für eines der größten Einkaufszentren Deutschlands, errichtet.
Essen ist, stellvertretend für das gesamte Ruhrgebiet, die europäische Kulturhaupstadt 2010. Einen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf die Vielfalt der Events des Jahres 2010 gibt die Loveparade, die in den nächsten Jahren durch verschiedene Ruhrgebietstädte tourt.
Den Anfang machte in diesem Jahr Essen mit 1.200.000 Besuchern.

Essen has modernized, hosting a number of large German corporations and boasting a vibrant cultural offering at a number of venues, particularly the Aalto Theater, which is an architectural masterpiece and home to ballet and opera. Essen is also regarded to be a “city of shopping”, particularly since the opening of the Metropolis shopping mall.
