Hersonissos is a beautiful Mediterranean town that stands on the ruins of the ancient peninsula, beside a green-filled charm sea, 25 km east of Heraklion. At Hersonissos was beating the heart of the Roman Crete. Look for remains of the ancient theater, mosaics, streets and ancient buildings, the basilicas, the Roman harbor and ancient fishponds.
