Southwest View, Powell Point, Utah, USA
Utah

At 10,000 feet elevation, even on a day hazy with smoke from western fires, the view from Powell Point reaches 70+ miles. To the right (northwest), you can see a bit of the nearby red cliffs of the Table Cliff plateau which ends at Powell Point.  In the distance, the Sevier plateau and Tushar mountains rise. To the southwest of the point, Bryce Canyon National Park is a thin pink cliff.  Far to the south, the white cliffs of No Mans Mesa and nearby canyons cut by tributaries to the Paria river are visible deep inside Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.   You can just make out around the corner to the left some of the gray slopes below Mt. Canaan, just south and east of Powell Point.  Behind us, on the point itself, grow bristlecone pines, likely hundreds of years old if not 1000 like bristlecone elsewhere in the state.
