Вечный Огонь .Eternal Fire.

Площадь Павших борцов (до 8 февраля 1920 — Александровская площадь[34]) один из немногих памятников города, связанных не только с Великой Отечественной войной. Центральная площадь города. Получила своё название в честь всех защитников города погибших в Гражданской войне. Над братской могилой, расположенной непосредственно на площади, воздвигнут обелиск в их честь. В период Сталинградской битвы площадь стала ареной ожесточённых боев. 4 февраля 1943 года в могилу было произведено дозахоронение останков более ста защитников Сталинграда. Сейчас на месте их погребения высится 26-метровая стела из чёрного и красного гранита. 1 февраля 1963 года на Площади Павших борцов был зажжён Вечный Огонь в память о мужестве и героизме всех защитников города



The area of the Fallen fighters (till February, 8th 1920 — the Aleksandrovsky area) one of few city monuments connected not only with the Great Patriotic War. City central square. Has received the name in honour of all defenders of city of victims in Civil war. Over the communal grave located directly on the area, will erect obelisk in their honour. In Stalingradsky fight the area became arena of violent fighting. On February, 4th, 1943 in tomb funeral of remains more than hundred defenders of Stalingrada has been made. Now on place of their burial the 26-metre monument from black and red granite rises. On February, 1st, 1963 on the Area of the Fallen fighters Eternal Fire in memory of courage and heroism of all defenders of city has been lighted.
