Grizzly Lake [1]

Sunset view overlooking Grizzly Lake in the Trinity Alps Wilderness north of Weaverville, California.  The lake is nestled in a deep glacial cirque below Thompson & Caesar Peaks & is fed by late snowpack & the tiny Grizzly Glacier.  The lake's outlet features Grizzly Lake Falls which immediately drops over a granite cliff some 250 feet down into talus below.  This view is from a small strip of flat polished granite that separates the lake from the dropoff.  Ice Age glacial striations are clearly visible within areas of the granite, though much of it has since exfoliated.
