Akkale Erdemli Vr Mersin 334
Turkey
Located on the shore-side of the Mersin-Silifke road, 12 km west of Erdemli District, Akkale is one of the interesting archeological sites of the region. The group of structures here are said to have been the summer palace of the Cappadocian King Archelaos I. The complex is composed of a multiple-storey, large building that is supposed to be the palace itself, a two-storey building in the form of a closed cross whose function has yet to be discovered, a large cistern partially dug on the bedrock, a bath, a grape and olive press, a small port and dock, a vaulted structure, a hypogeum and some other remains that are not clearly identified.
