Amarante, Church of Sao Domingos, facade
Portugal

Built in the 18th century by the Third Order of S. Domingos, with a Baroque style facade and a centralized plan of reduced dimensions. In the eardrum of the entrance the Dominican arms. The access to its interior is made through a small atrium on which is located a small high choir in communication with the annex building, overlooking Largo de S. Gonçalo.

Balcony of the Kings, Convent of São Gonçalo:

In 1683, during the time of Brother João da Madre de Deus, the community decided to restart the work and entrusted Manuel do Couto with the finalization of the project and the construction of an open gallery - as a loggia - on the nave of the chapels facing the middle -day. The Varanda dos Reis is made in correspondence with the Portal statuary. It is from the same factory and was contracted in 1683 by the stone master and architect Manuel do Couto. On the cornice, above the galleries, six pyramids stand out, based on pedestals, and in the wall to the left of the portico, an 18th century window opens to illuminate the transept.
