Austin (aerial)
Nevada

A 200' aerial view overlooking the unincorporated community of Austin, Nevada.  With a population of 192, the town was mapped out in 1862 by David Buell & named after his partner Alvah Austin.  A silver rush here began after a Pony Express horse kicked over a rock that contained silver.  Today the town is a pitstop along the Loneliest Highway in America (Highway 50) & sits roughly in the center of the state.  Much of the town's layout hasn't changed since it was first founded.
