Aerial view overlooking Bajo Boquete (or simply Boquete), Panamá. A popular destination for locals, tourists, expats, & retirees, the community is situated at about 1,200 meters elevation resulting in a cooler climate from the surrounding lowlands. There is plenty of nearby recreation including access to nearby Volcán Barú, the highest point in the country. Settlement of the region has been ongoing since about 300-600AD as evident from petroglyphs found in the region. The population as of 2008 was recorded around 19,000 citizens.
