Barboi Church / Sf. Apostoli Petru si Pavel Barboi Biserica

Barboi Church / Sf. Apostoli Petru si Pavel Barboi is a Romanian Orthodox Church located at 12 Barboi St. in Iasi, Romania. Built in 1613-15, it became a monastery in 1669. The church was terribly damaged in 1821 and demolished in 1829. The Sturdza family with funds from the Metropolitan had the present church built on the same site in 1841-43I. It is the city's only church built in the shape of a Greek Cross as a result of the Greek master builders Atanase and Gheorghe. Design was by the architect Andrei Caridi. The design is Byzantine with neo classical elements. The church is listed on the National Register of Historical Monuments.
