Battle of Vaslui Monument
Romania
Battle of Vaslui Monument also known as Battle of High Bridge memorializes the victory of Stefan cel Mare against the Turks on 10 January 1475. Using superior tactics, knowledge of terrain, distractions, and the over confidence of Turks, with about 40,000 men plus farmers, he defeated a Turkish force of 120,000 killing over 40,000 of them. The battlefield below this hill was marshland and the valley is a half oval. During a cold and foggy morning as the Turks proceeded without proper scouting, the Moldavians attacked from three sides. While at the rear, he sent horn players hidden by the fog to confuse the Turks.
