Braga, Cathedral, North transept, Nossa Senhora do Sameiro
Portugal

On the side of the Gospel, to the left of the main chapel, the chapel of Our Lady of the Sameiro, once dedicated to S. Pedro de Rates.

The Foundation of Braga as an ecclesiastical city is linked to the miracle of the resurrection of Peter de Rates, and his martyrdom. Almost all his primitive leaders died persecuted by the Romans, by the testimony of the faith. These two factors worked as a field propitious to exaltation. In 1522 D.Baltazar clean translated to the relics of S.Pedro de Rates. These relics were placed in a golden stone sepulcher.
