Braganca, Citadel and Castle, aerial

We are on the Citadel or Village, a walled enclosure that was once part of a wider wall, it is the oldest urban center in Bragança. It is likely that, in a town so close to the border, a defensive line was built in this place, still in the reign of D. Sancho I, when his first charter of 1187. His wall would be ready in 1377 in the reign of D. Fernando. The castle was built by D. Dinis in the late 13th century
