The lower end of the slot portion of Cathedral Wash provides multiple variations of red, orange, and white as the sun shines on white limestone and colored sandstones. Then, add the deep shade of the canyon to change the hue of all those same substances to get an entirely different palette. This panorama was shot just before the slot portion of the canyon opens up on its approach to the nice beach at Cathedral Rapid/Riffle on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park.
