A 300' aerial view overlooking Chester, England w/ the River Dee. Founded in 70AD as a Roman fort known as Deva Victrix, it became a major civilian settlement. From this view, one can see the exceptionally preserved city walls which were initially built by the Romans around 70-80AD, followed by modifications in the 10th & 12th centuries. The Chester Weir, the dam spanning across the river, was built in 1093 for nearby Medieval mills & the Old Dee Bridge was built in 1387-1388 replacing an original bridge built in 1086 & even an older non-existant bridge that was Roman built. As of 2021, the population of Chester was 92,760.
